A/Prof Ryan Winters
Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Otolaryngology Surgeon
A/Prof Ryan Winters is an American Board Certified and Fellowship-trained Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Craniofacial Surgeon, and is additionally a Specialist Surgeon qualified in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery via the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He is very happy to call Newcastle home, and is especially excited to be a part of the multidisciplinary Newcastle Facial Nerve Clinic. Ryan looks forward to partnering with patients, as well as other team members, to develop an individualised treatment plan for each patient suffering with facial nerve dysfunction. He brings extensive experience in multiple surgical, and non-surgical, treatment options to the team, with the singular goal of identifying the best option for each individual patient. These can include synkinesis toxin injections, static surgical options such as facelifts and slings, dynamic options such as orthodromic tendon transfers or cross-face-nerve-reinnervations, or other nerve grafting. He is also a very experienced microvascular, and microneurovascular, surgeon and can plan multi-stage "free flap" or "free tissue transfer," such as the gracilis free flap, to restore select voluntary or emotive facial expression. He also has extensive experience in paediatric and congenital facial nerve palsy management, with a plethora of options for paediatric patients with facial nerve trauma or other congenital or childhood facial nerve dysfunction.
