Facial nerve conditions and injuries affect the facial nerve of one side, therefore leading to weakness on one side of the face.

Types of conditions we see that can cause facial nerve paralysis include:

  • Bells Palsy

  • Ramsay Hunt Syndrome

  • Surgery such as removal of an acoustic neuroma

  • Chronic facial nerve conditions and injuries

  • Traumatic facial nerve injuries

  • Synkinesis. An abnormal movement pattern involving incorrect recruitment of facial nerve branches as nerve healing occurs.
